How Preschoolers Develop Through Purposeful Play

Playing comes naturally for kids. It is the natural result of their earliest experiences in exploring through their senses. As children develop, their form of play also becomes sophisticated. In any preschool in California, children develop from playing on their own to learning how to play with other children.

However, like any child care, adult supervision is still necessary to facilitate the process of setting up a space for cooperative play and assist kids in expressing their questions and needs through words.

During the preschool age, they discover shared interests with other kids. Thus, they learn to negotiate and strategize by creating various play scenarios and take turns and motivate each other to work towards a common goal. In our children development center in Sunnyvale, California, children will be able to experience these through the different types of play categories that often overlap.

They will be able to experience the dramatic play type that is fantasy-based with the usage of costumes and assumption of roles as characters. Another is the manipulative type which is simply the handling of small toys to build objects such as Legos and puzzles. Physical play type is also encouraged through activities that use their whole body— jump ropes and the like. Lastly, the creative kind of play is stimulated through the use of art-based activities which heavily focus on the use of materials and not the end product.

At Acceleration Academy, preschoolers are encouraged to play to help them develop skills they will use in their school years. For more information about us and our programs, you may give us a call, and we’d be happy to answer all your queries.
